Townsend House, London
The site is situated at a prominent position at the junction of Greycoat Place and Rochester Row in the principal commercial area of the Victoria submarket. It is also served by major public transport stations such as Victoria Station and St. James’s Park Station, one of the busiest communications and transportation hubs in London.
The corner building consists of four floors of workspace with two duplex apartments on the upper floors, the ground floor with three frontages are space for retail.
The development follows the curved line of the street, and draws on the prevalent residential mansion block vernacular. Sandstone pilasters rise vertically across the façade framing a series of contemporary projecting bay windows and spandrels in dark bronze, expressed in groups to reflect the retail, office and residential uses within the building.
Simple scalloped details on the columns reference the neighbouring Art Deco inspired Artillery House, while intricate metalwork to the apartments add detail to the building façade.
The project is expected to be completed in 2022.
